It was informative, and written in simple but elegant style. This really helped me with my studies for the Bangladesh Studies exam. And also helped me learn a little more abt my country.

As the author mentions himself in his introduction, this is the first modern academic introduction to Bangladesh and a good one I might add. It covers the classics such as history, politics, sociological aspects and economy but also includes specific chapters devoted to NGO's and civil society a welcome addition to older style country introduction books.A good starting point for any academic or interested person to start discovering Bangladesh.
