The Art of Fallout 4 is absolutely gorgeous. Full of beautiful and original art set in the Fallout world. Even if you've never played the game, but consider yourself a sci-fi fan then this is a great book. If you love Fallout..this is a no brainer.

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. First, I will say that I am not a gamer. I am an avid reader and book reviewer. But I'm married to a gamer. Who LOVES Fallout 4. Just watching my husband play, I've come to love this game. I enjoy the details right down to the brand names of items and especially the music. It's right up there with finding a good book series with incredible world-building that you just want to spend more time in. I love the idea behind Fallout 4, and I especially love how intricate the personalization of this game is. You could literally spend days just designing and creating within this game without ever touching the story line. (My husband has pink yard flamingos manning his turret guns) This book is a must for any Fallout 4 fan - it's like getting a backstage pass to your favorite game. The art work is beautifully rendered. Most of the book is full-page artwork. But the book isn't just art, the team has included tons of sketch and concept pieces directly from the artists' notebooks along with descriptions of and reasons for modifications. It's really neat seeing the evolution of the characters and the world-building. The team Bethesda put an incredible amount of time into making this Fallout the best one yet. This book is the step-by-step documentation of how they arrived at the finished product.

Outstanding book - lots of images and art in progress, with good descriptions of some of the design. But mostly lots and lots of art.

I rarely play games, and have never bought accompanying books for the odd games I do play (it has always seemed to be reserved for die hard gamers) but I was quite impressed by the mood and tone set on the game 'Fallout 4', through the use of colour schemes, and many other little areas. The game itself is very detailed, yet rough and even unpolished, which helps to create all of the 'post nuclear' elements. This is a very detailed book complete with initial concepts, sketches as well as full art of scenery, characters, weapons and various environments throughout the wastelands of the game. In addition to that there are many designs that weren't published in the game and artwork of the adverts for the in-game products (like Nuka-cola) and other food / household items.Great book to have if you are a fan of the game or even one to have if you simply have an interest in art itself. A quick flick through of the book immediately tells you the amount of skill and effort that goes into the visuals of the game and the art would even serve an aspiring artist to have this book among their collection for inspiration, even if they have no interest in the game or games themselves but are studying art for a career in a profitable sector. The gaming industry was one of a few not affected by the economic downturn in 2008, so would definitely be worth looking at various 'gaming art' books as a potential area of interest to show the various levels of concept to completion. There is commentary throughout the book and I have a better appreciation of the work that goes into the visuals of a game.

AMAZING!!Five stars barely scratches the surface. In fairness I am a fan of the series. I have played 1, 2, Tactics, 3, New Vegas, and 4 an average of 10 times each, start to finish. I got into the series in the late 90's and have eagerly awaited each new installment along the way.The first thing that strikes me about this book is the quality. So many video game books are poorly built, and clearly use the cheapest materials available. This book is built like a high end text book. The sheer size of it would have made cheap construction a recipe for it to fall apart in your hands. But this was avoided by using heavy hardback cover, and very heavy paper stock. I can't tell you how many times while reading this, I thought I had 2 pages stuck together when I went to turn the page. This book is built to last.As for the content - it is without equal in my experience. TONNES of vivid full color artwork, with an intro to each section and notes on drawings where applicable. 366 pages of pleasure await inside. Stop reading this dumb review and GO GET A COPY!

If you loved Fallout 4 or even have an interest in strange creatures, the post-apocalypse, retro-futuristic artwork then this is for you. It's nicely divided into several sections, such as World, Characters, Creatures, Weapons and Vehicles, giving readers a nice cross section of topics. There's some background information on the development on the game including the pre-production and alternate takes of what ended up in the game but as the name suggests it's mostly just art. Sketches, 3D renders, cross sections, schematics and full page spreads. It's so easy to get lost in this book, it's currently sitting on my desk at work and whenever I need a break I'll flip it open and gaze at the amount of detail and love that went into this game.I can't recommend it enough. War may never change but it certainly inspires some beautiful artwork.

As a fan of the Fallout videogame series, and a huge fan of the Apocalypse sub-genre of speculative fiction, I have always loved looking at Bethesda's artwork for the Fallout games. Fallout 4 is their most recent addition to this series of games (as of writing this), and the artwork sure delivers. This is an excellent and quick read for fans of the series and for those who love reading about the apocalypse.

This game has been eating away all of my time so I finally broke away to get some book reading done... about the game that is eating up all my time. This is a pretty pricey hardback but it's a beauty if you're a fan of the games. Pretty awesome stuff if you're a diehard.

A stunningly beautiful art book! First I have to say, I absolutely love the series of Fallout games. Flipping through this book was like getting a peek into the inner workings of minds of the brilliant artists over at Bethesda studios. Seeing everything from the locations, guns, vehicles, creatures, characters and even set dressings go from the concept art shown on printed page to what is in the game itself made me appreciate the detail that the artists put into every nuance of the game. Now, I will certainly stop more often to smell the roses (or lack thereof) and appreciate the minutia around me from the sky surrounding me to the posters on the wall next time I'm in the world of Fallout 4.

Interesting look behind the scenes of making this game. Not a game I've played yet, but I might look into the series. If I get some free time.I did find a couple of issues with some of the designs. A Gatling Laser? A Laser Musket? The Gatling laser is way larger, and needlessly more complex that needed. At the time of this games creation there are laser that can fire a pulse 1,600 times a second (16Gb FC). This fits in the palm of your hand. Now these are not powerful enough to burn through a human, but that is a different issue than rate of fire.

One of the most complete and comprehensive art books I have come across. It covers scenes, buildings, character design/direction, posters, weapons, armor, etc. If you want to see the depth and scope of art that goes into a AAA game this has it all. Highly recommend.
