This book was absolute perfection for me. After reading 50 Shades I was in a complete book hangover and wanted something similar to read. I saw a bunch of tweets about this book and thought – what the hell? Yes, this book has kink, yes this book has BDSM - but no, this book is NOTHING LIKE 50 SHADES. It will make you swoon, pant and drool over Alexander Stone. Christian Grey – you are a hot mess, while Stone on the other hand is just pure hotness.Kristina Cole is determined to make it on her own, struggling to find a good job in NYC. It was by pure chance that she meets Alexander Stone, and is offered the opportunity of a lifetime. But not only that – there is an instant connection that sizzles and sparks fly!Alexander Stone is the founder of Stone Enterprise – and he’s freaking loaded. But like all other alphas, he’s tortured, dominating and controlling, but he’s also tender and passionate, and man enough to admit when he’s wrong and doesn’t hesitate to grovel and plead. Kristina and Alex both have a past, but completely suck at communicating their issues. It creates obstacles for them that they strive to overcome. Alex and Kristina are also both strong and confident people. This poses a problem for Alex. Kristina is sassy - an issue that Alexander struggles with. “Look at me,” he repeated, his tone completely different this time. Gone was the soft cajoling, replaced by a deep gravely sound. This was a demand – one that I knew would be in my best interest to obey. I slowly turned my head to look at him and his mouth tilted up in a sardonic smile. “There may be hope for you yet.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, surprised by his expression.“It means that up until ten seconds ago, I didn’t think that there was a submissive bone in your body. Apparently, I was wrong. The way you looked at me just now…” he trailed off, as if searching for the right words. When he spoke again, his eyes were dark as midnight, his voice thick with desire. “It was more than just the turn of your head. Your body language changed. You have more strength than I originally gave you credit for. I underestimated you.” My anger fled, replaced by that all too familiar twisting in my belly. God help me, but I wanted to take him right then and there. OMG! I'm still getting the feels from this book! This is a MUST read for fans of contemporary romance. It’s lighthearted - but dark and twisted. Its absolutely one for the favorite shelf!***Reviewed for Jillie's Dominant Alpha Readers Club***

It's probably pointless to point out that not every book that touches on BDSM is like 50 Shades - people should stop whining about the similarities and think for a moment: This author didn't rip off your precious 50 shades. This book is NOTHING like 50 Shades - it's better.Sorry, couldn't help myself, it's getting on my nerves big time and I'm trying hard not to turn this into a rant against 50 shades.✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆✯ ☆҉‿➹⁀☆҉☆So...about Heart of Stone... all I can say is WOW! I needed a minute to collect my thoughts after this one. This book was recommended to me by a friend that said - you have to read this so we can debate over it! I glanced over the reviews, I saw a few reviews that mentioned editing issues, so I hesitated at first. But after seeing a bunch of shouty capitals and exclamation points, I thought, yes - I need to read this. I am so glad that I did! First off, the descriptive turn of phrases in this book made me smile, as there were quite a few witty, tongue-in-cheek moments. The author's writing style had an easy flow to it, while still building dimension for the main characters. Typos - I didn't think there were any. Either the author fixed them, or I'm just blind. Overall, I thought this was a very well-written book. Second, Krystina Cole. I loved her and I felt like I understood her and her issues. But I also wanted to shake her and scream some sense into her too! I wanted to somehow magically heal her, show her what her life could be, and then set her loose to happily walk through the gates of her white picket fence. And lastly, Alexander Stone. SUPER SEXY - I just may be in love! Is he perfect? Hell no! Did I like all of his choices? Definitely not! But I loved him regardless, and the scenes between Alex and Krystina will be staying with me for a very long time.I can’t say that I loved how it ended, but I understand it…sort of. I’m still working it out in my head. But I think that what happened needed to happen for the sake of both characters - Krystina especially. That being said, this isn't end for them thankfully, and the next book in the series will definitely be on my watch list.

What can I say about Heart of Stone? I freaking LOVED it. Like - a LOT. This is by far, one of the hottest books that I've ever read. It hooked me in from beginning to end, and I could not put it down!I couldn’t get enough of Krystina and Alex - their story is dynamic and HOT with a capital H!!! Krystina was a strong female character that I found to be very realistic when reading. You’ll like her because you can totally relate to her thoughts, even though there were times when I wanted to slap her silly over her indecisiveness. But through it all, I found her remarkable and spunky, and a strong female lead. Then you have Alexander Stone. He is enigmatic, passionate, and fierce, and sexy as all hell. I have a new book boyfriend – I totally fell in LOVE with him! He is a force to be reckoned with, and there's a ton of mystery surrounding him. I couldn't get enough of him, and I was sold on him from the moment I met him. Sure he's possessive and a smidge controlling, but Krystina won’t have any of it – a fact that you will love. Heart of Stone is hot and passionate - there is so much push and pull between the characters, and so many well-developed layers to it that I loved diving into. There’s so much depth to the story, each layer revealed piece by piece. I can’t wait to see what comes next, and the suspense until the next book release is going to kill me! I seriously recommend this book! It gave me a total book hangover! It was just FABULOUS! 5 STARS!

Based on Amazon reviews, I thought I was getting another FSOG. This book was anything but that (thankfully). I may stop reading book reviews all together going forward. This book was written by someone who knows how to write and does it well. The heroine, Kristina Cole is intelligent, mature, and likable. She is dimensional, she has a past, and she has issues. And Alexander (the hero), well - he's simply phenomenal to say the least. Of course he's a billionaire alpha-male, but he isn't perfect. He has a vulnerable side that shows through when he's with Kristina. These characters felt real and the pace was perfect. I loved their story, and the way it progressed. All the secondary characters were great and you just know there's an interesting story there too (TBD hopefully in the author's next book). The bondage/BDSM aspects of the book were mild but accurate. This is a good read for those that don't know much about the life. Nothing too scary in here. I read a review that mentioned a cliffhanger. I personally didn't feel that the cliffhanger was terrible. If you're not a series reader, this book could be read as a stand-alone but you won't get a HEA.Overall - 5 stars. Great writing, and an intriguing story. Looking forward to the next book.

I absolutely could not put it down. This is a story that just grabs you from the first few pages and does not let you think about anything else even days after you finished reading it. It is sophisticated, provocative, and a highly erotic read that is well done. It was written from both characters perspective, which is something that I enjoyed because you get both characters personal thoughts. The thing that struck me the most about this book were the dialogues between Krystina and Alex - it was so refreshing to have a heroine who was not afraid to speak her mind, regardless of her feelings for this blue eyed to-die-for man. I loved how she keeps him on his toes throughout the book. The sex scenes were beyond hot, but were not just carnal need - it is psychological too. Krystina and Alex are both damaged, but we have yet to know Alexander’s whole story. Krystina’s back-story is revealed, and we see how she struggles with her demons. She has grown into a strong-willed and confident young woman, who has a few low self-esteem issues, but I think she’s doing quite well considering her past. Alex, on the other hand, has buried his and uses control in all aspects of his life to deal with his issues. In my opinion, his inability to control Krystina is what draws him to her. For the first time in his life he has to let his guard down in order to get what he wants – Krystina’s affection, acceptance, and submission. He has to work to keep her and that is something he has never had to do with another woman. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but it is evident that there is an emotional connection that neither character can see. This is a book that took my heart on a roller coaster of emotions. I felt Krystina’s pain and confusion, I felt Alexander’s desire and conflict. The title was fitting for so many reasons since both Krystina and Alex seem to have hardened their hearts in some way or another. My only criticism of Heart of Stone is that I now have to wait for the next book to see how this story develops even further. Dakota Willink, you’ve got yourself another fan.

I hesitated with this book at first because it was a new author and I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the chance. But after hearing rave reviews for this book from friends, I thought that I'd give it a chance. Then I learned that the second book wasn't out yet, and I decided to hold off until I could read them together. But, curiosity killed the cat. It got the best of me and I decided that I didn't want to wait, even with the knowledge that the first book would end with a cliffhanger. Now that I've read it, I can see what all the fuss is about. This book blew me away! It was everything that I love in a steamy romance - intriguing characters, mystery, humor, angst, and smoking hot sex with a touch of BDSM. This book literally had it all.The story is written from a 2 person POV, but centers around Krystina Cole, the heroine with a tragic past that prevents her from trusting the opposite sex. But when she meets Alexander Stone, the hot billionaire alpha, she decides to take a chance. And ladies, you'll be happy that she did. You won't be able to get enough of Stone's sapphire blue eyes.Alexander took on more than he bargained for when he decided to go after Krystina Cole. His killer instincts fall short, and he grapples to find a middle ground with her as he tried to introduce her to his kinky world. His patience are put to the test as she fights and questions everything, but together their chemistry is off the charts. The sex and steam factor is way up there, but it's not written in a trashy way (which I liked). What I liked most about this book was that the characters were so human. Krystina was sarcastically funny in a "no-shit-sherlock" kind of way. I could easily put myself in her shoes, feel her pain and her struggles, as well as understand the desires and frustrations of Alexander. Both characters have a dark past, but I can only guess about Alexander's since the author doesn't reveal too much about his history in this book.Although this story was a little slow to get going for me, once it took off, I couldn't pull myself away from it. I was completely absorbed, like the kind of book you can't wait for the work day to end so you can go home to read. It got into my head and I couldn't stop thinking about it. But know that I've finished it, I'm going to be stalking the authors website for details on the next book release. As far as cliffy's go, this one was well done. There is closure, even if a lot has been left unsaid. I didn't see it coming, and definitely wasn't prepared for it when it happened. I literally felt like my heart had been ripped form my chest. But alas, what happened needed to happen. If you read it, you'll see what I mean. This book is definitely a new favorite of mine. I loved it and I'd die to get my hands on the sequel early. The wait is going to be killer, but it's soooo worth it. You must add this one to your TBR list!

Holy Hot DAYUUMMM!! I just met my new dominant!! This book had it all!! An awesome hero and our dom Alex Stone and strong willed heroine Krystinna Cole. I crave this book everyday to get my hands on Mr Stone!! For the lovers of FSOG this is your new fix and addiction. Mr. Stone is introduced to us as our new Dom and our submissive is Krystinna. Though worlds apart they have a undying connection to one another and while leading a different lifestyle they manage to fulfil each one as their own addiction. And addicted you will become. As we all fell in love with FSOG we were introduced to the world BDSM and this is no stranger in that world. The one thing I love is that you can completely relate to the heroine. Krystinna is your average college graduate with marketing degree with no prospect of utilizing her degree while working in a grocery store, yes ladies in a grocery store! How much real can that get?!?! Meeting an investor due to financial woes of Wallys Grocery Store all things Krystinna would never do again has been completely chipped away piece by piece. And an offer she can refused lands on her lap or does she land in the lap on Mr. Stone?!?! In realistic position I was also excited how close this is to my Home town and yes I heard of Clifton Park.. 15 mins from where I live. I had such a true connection with the characters and how they were plotted into this story. It had my heart pounding and aching all the same time. I was bewildered by Mr Stone in such ways that he was willing to be a different Dom than he normally all for this one girl girl. Their secrets divide them up, their passion fires their soul and their attraction becomes an addiction. Will their secrets tear them apart or do they conquer each demon they faced. I highly recommend this to meet our new Dom of 2016. I was very surprised to how engulfed I was to this. Dakota Willink- you are a goddess of BDSM. And I must say I was thrilled that you were so informative with the lifestyle and how it coveted in the story. And I learned a little more in each chapter!! :-* excellent writing and such creativity in the story of our characters background. Def a must read if you are FSOG fan! loving the concept of steamy hot romance of a Dom and submissive!!An ARC was provided by my honest review!

4.5 StarsEvery once in awhile you take a chance on a new author and that author goes on to show why we should never dismiss people stepping into the world of writing. For me, Dakota Willink is such an author. Her debut novel, Heart of Stone, is a book that showed me that new authors can be as equally talented writers and informative narrators as the more experienced authors we know and trust.Although this book is reminiscent of others currently on the market, the writing style makes it an altogether refreshing change. There is a developing story which made me warm to the main characters immediately and with their connection came a special story which underpinned the essence of the book. Krystina is a recent graduate who, now needing to secure employment, is currently working in a store. It's in that store that she first comes face to face with Alexander Stone. A businessman and entrepreneur, he is a property investor stepping in to save the family business where Krys works. After an embarrassing first introduction, for Krys, Stone sees something in her innocence and beauty that makes him question his beliefs about relationships. As a Dom, Alexander Stone seeks only casual relationships that fit in with his lifestyle. The problem is, Krys is the opposite of the women he is normally attracted to and he fears that his interests will intimidate her. Using his wealth and influence, Alex sets about making her one of his employees before persuading her to enter into a sexual relationship with him. Open and transparent about his interest in BDSM, Alex tentatively explains to Krys what he is looking for in a Sub and what he hopes they can share together. Krys is understandably concerned and surprised by Alex’s declaration but her fears of entering into a D/s relationship stem from deeper emotions than even Alex could ever have anticipated. Throughout the book, we are teased with Alex’s secretive and mysterious background which seems to underpin who he is today. We meet Alex’s sister, who gives us some insight into an a possible unpleasant childhood and this secret may be what stops Krys and Alex truly being together. Krys needs Alex to open up to her but Alex is unwilling to share his troubled past with her, despite Krys revealing her own painful memories. Despite this being a long book, it maintained its momentum throughout and the story built to its conclusion which sets the scene for the next instalment. I'm not a huge fan of BDSM themed books but this is subtly explored and despite a visit to a sex club, the author didn't over emphasise the experience and, despite Krys’s innocence, the scene did not make me feel uncomfortable. Yes, this book ended on the inevitable Cliffe which came after an intriguing night out and an unexpected confrontation. The next instalment is already calling to me and I can't wait to see what's in store next for Alex and Krys. Review Requests: [email protected]: http://jezabellgirl.comFB:

OMG! What a book!!!! My review will not do this book justice and I apologize in advance!! I FLOVED this book!! I have read 50 shades and loved it, and this book was as sexual as that, but to me, this was 50 shades on steroids! The best part is this is book 1!!!!Alexander Stone is a sexy God like alpha male who is a billionaire real estate tychoon!! Sign me up, please!! And to boot he has a masters degree in psychology!! So not only is he amazing in bed, he's bossy and he can figure out what makes you tick!!!This cat and mouse story is fast paced and so sexually charged!! He likes to be in control of every aspect of his life and believes he is until a chance meeting with one Krystina Cole and it knocks him for a loop because he can't figure her out, so therefore, he's not in control. But, he will put forth amazing effort to remedy that issue!!Krys is a college graduate looking for a real job. She temporarily works for Wally's grocery until she can find a job in her field. She's setting up displays and that's where she meets Alexander when she makes a complete idiot of herself. She went back to work to just get her phone, so she could enjoy her afternoon off. She's got the good angel, bad angel on her shoulders and the bad angel is doing the happy dance at this God in front of her.I loved everything about this book!! The characters were amazing! Alexander is such an ass, but oh my gosh, he is a God!! Krys puts him in his place more than once and it drives him nuts and it's part of what makes this book so electrically charged!!I look forward to seeing what the next book in this series will be like!Reviewed on Behalf of Once Upon An Alpha

This was definitely an interesting book to say the least. I thought at first it was another BDSM book, about an overbearing alpha male and an innocent young virginal girl clinging to him. But Krystina had spark to her and wasn't afraid to express her feelings. Alexander, however, I did not care for. I felt he was an annoying character who did not come off as being protective, more like he was a bossy ass and sometimes I felt his dialogue did not fit his character. But overall, the novel was written very well and author definitely created a vivid look into the BDSM world.

This book delivers in a huge way. If you like the dominant alpha males - READ IT!!! And Alexander's eyes....ahhhhhh! Two words - MIND BLOWN! I need to get myself a man with a pair of those! But when is the next book coming out????? I'm dying here!

I enjoyed the book. It's not a typical FSOG story Yes there is a BDSM theme but I guess the focus was not just on the lifestyle but more of finding ones self and growing especially after a difficult past as the heroine, Krystina, experienced. The novel read well and the author took her time to research and write her novel. Krystina speaks her mind elements I do enjoy in a Romance novel. Alexander is full of riddles and mystery and I loved the author did not rush into the heroes past and give things away. The author may tease you a bit or give you hints in terms of Krystina and Alexander past but it is important to let the characters confess their demons and past to the readers which I thought was brilliant in the story. I had my surprises and shocks along with laughs. I do not want to give too much, hence, I would get into Spoiler territory. I cannot wait to read the second and third installment of this novel. Dakota Willink I feel has a promising career in writing. First impression is lasting impression and the novel and her writing did just that. Congrats Dakota Willink. Awesome read!!! Can't wait for the next book.Happy reading everyone!

I found this book to be a pleasant surprise. I was expecting the typical Fifty Shades crap, but it was definitely much more. Alexander was more complex than I expected him to be. Yes, he was alpha, but he was also layered, layers which both Krystina and the reader have yet to be able to peel back. Krystina was the best part of this story. She's strong, smart and loving and not afraid to stand up for herself and ask questions.Their chemistry is so hot and steamy but not shallow. There is much more to be explored between the 2 of them.I was disappointed that the book ended and am looking forward to the continuation of their story. Please hurry with the next part!

*A complimentary ecopy was given by the author, in exchange for my honest review.*Wow!! I'd like to first, thank the Author for allowing me to read and review her work, and second, thank you for your patience in waiting for my review. Life has been a little hectic. So let me get into this, Heart of Stone is and should be a great and perfect starter book for anyone who's just starting out in the BDSM world of literature. Alexander Stone...damn!! He's my new book boyfriend, he'll be on my mind for quite some time. Can you say "Alpha"? Hehehe. This story is about two people, Krystina Cole & Alexander Stone. These two definitely have trust issues, that stem from their past. They both make it quite known to each other that their pasts have defined who they are now. They both want each other and so Stone comes up with an arrangement that leaves Krystina a little on the fence. She's never been a part of his lifestyle. It's new, so of course, it can be scary and even a little intimidating. Krystina has to relinquish the one thing she's fought so hard to have control over. Trust. That seemed to be the theme here. Giving yourself to someone, wholely. Whether it be physical or mentally. And let's not forget, they're doing this with no strings attached. Not so easy when you feel like you're giving all & the other person isn't. However, this isn't just one-sided. It's going both ways.'s basically the breaking point of this sexy, scorching hot, salacious read. While you're entertained by this sexy couple, you also become invested in their lives. Will they be able to overcome their insecurities, their issues? That ending!! OMG!! And it's because of that ending you'll be thinking of Alexander Stone until he's back. Grrr, I want book two already!! You cannot end it like that!! *Sighs* It's OK. I'm OK. I can get through this. I knew it was coming but it threw me off because I wasn't expecting it like THAT!! Mr. Stone and Miss Cole...there's no denying the chemistry, of these two, that set these pages on fire. Overall, a fantastic, sexy read that left me wanting so much more.

The writing is dead on - it had me hooked from page one and I immediately knew I had a gem in my hands. Heart of Stone is not only SEXY, but it has a great story. It's sarcastically funny at times, but it has an intelligent and relatable heroine (I find believable heroines are hard to come by in romance books nowadays). I never compare books, but move over 50 Shades - you are soooo 2012! I love when I read an author that does it right! BDSM is not supposed to be abuse, and this book is spot on with real life.So anyways, I digress...Krystina Cole isn't perfect, but that's okay. She's NORMAL, just trying to get by like everyone else. And then enters Alex Stone…cocky, domineering and an oh so sexy alpha male. The attraction between Krystina and Alex is instant and the build up is one of the best I have read in a long time. You won't get full out smut right from the get-go, so if you're the impatient type you might want to reconsider reading. The author makes you wait for it, but when you get there it's absolutely DYNAMITE!Their relationship is full of obstacles - Krystina sidesteps everyone one of Alex's smooth moves. But their chemistry gave me the tingles even outside of the sex scenes! My heart also broke for both characters, as they are both twisted up in a their own way. While they are both very different, I enjoyed reading their path of self discovery. There’s quite a few twists and revelations, a couple are predictable yet most are not. I won't say more or risk a spoiler. But I will say this - be prepared for the dreaded cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book!

I don't normally write too many reviews, but my friend told me that I should do it more. I will try to do the authors justice, but don't judge my reviews because they don't have any fancy GIFs and quotes. I don't do tech stuff. So here it goes...FSOG was my favorite until I got my hands on the Crossfire books. And I thought it couldn't get any better. Then I read This Man and thought okay this is it. Boy was I wrong!I loved everything about Heart of Stone. I loved the length of the book - I won't read anything under 200 pages. I like to get to know the characters and see them, and their relationship, develop and this book certainly did that with 458 pages. The story made me laugh, fall in love with Krystina and Alex and ache with them. And the sex. OMG! Then there was the club scene. Is that place for real? So many times I wanted to grab Alex and shake him and scream at him and make him tell Krystina his story and then I wanted to take him home... I cried as I read Krystina’s story, and by the last few chapters I kept saying to myself - it can't finish like this!!!! But I got so excited after reading the last two lines when I realized that there will be more. And now I can't wait for the next book...but I'm going to have to. Release date please? I'm a series kind of gal and like to read them all right in a row. This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down. Just beautifully written. I've had two very late nights, finished reading today at 2 am. I’m officially HOOKED! And now to catch up on some house work and sleep and start reading again.

Oh my, did I love this book! It was such a sexy and fun read! I don't like to make comparisons to other books, but this one had a Crossfire feel to it - not with the storyline, but the writing style. It was clean, fresh, with just enough description to make it an easy read. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise because I was't sure what to expect with this book. I enjoyed Krystina's humor and found that I could relate to her as a person. A recent college grad working at a grocery store, its easy to connect to her. When she meets Alexander Stone, the super-rich dominant alpha male that he is, their connection is instant. Almost like love at first sight but they don't know it. Their back and forth was comical at times, but it was still the angsty romance that we all love. Alexander pushes and she pushes back. I liked how she questioned everything and wasn't the innocent virgin type ready to fall at his feet with just one word (well maybe she wanted to, but she knew enough not to). Alexander tries to introduce her to a bit of kink, but her past holds her back, and rightfully so. As much as I found humor in the story, it was also very dark at times. I liked that Alexander was;t a pompous ass and had patience with her while she came to accept what he was. However, i'm dying to find out Alexander's back story since the author only give clues to it. I'll be watching for book two and this one is going on my favorites shelf!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it was dark and twisted, yet I found myself laughing quite often at Krystina Cole's quirks! I loved her battle with "the devil on her shoulder", struggling with her conscience over what is right and what is deliciously wrong! As for Alex Stone, all I can say is - HOT!

While reading this book, I was put through a multitude of different emotions from good to bad. I was truly captivated by this story & how the two characters were trying to find their way. As I'm writing this I feel stunned by what I read. It isn't that it's another dark romance dealing with BDSM but how Ms. Willink wrote the book. I would definitely recommend this book. The book is meant for mature readers.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book

5 Smoking Stars Heart of Stone......where to begin. For starters, I love it and it's nothing like 50 Shades. It's much more in my opinion. You know I love a good spanking book ;). Krystina Cole, is a college graduate looking for a job. She works for Wally's grocery until she can get job in her criteria. While setting displays, that's where she meets Alexander when she makes a complete idiot of herself. Surprise, surprise. She's got that good angel, bad angel on her shoulders and the bad angel is doing the happy dance at this God in front of her.Alexander Stone, is enigmatic, passionate, and fierce, and sexy as all hell. He is Billionaire real estate tychoon and has a masters degree in psychology!! He's smoking hot and bossy smartypants. Just the way I love it ;).When Alexander decided to go after Krystina, he killer instincts fall short, and he has a hard time with her as he tried to introduce her to his kinky world. His patience are put to the test as she question his knowledge about everything. Both characters have a dark past and both are horrible with communicating in my opinion. You know how the book ended? You got it!! Cliffy!! Well that's a good way to get you to wait for the second book. I want to know what will happen and if there will be a happy ever after cause you know I'm all about HEA and gushy romance.

Loved this steamy romance! I was expecting to read another 50 Shades knockoff, but was pleasantly surprised to find characters that were more complex. I easily attached to them emotionally and can't wait for the next book. There were a few very minor editing issues, but overall it was an easy and fun read. If you like Maya Banks or Sylvia Day, I highly recommend this book.

HEART Of STONE (book 1 Stone series) – Dakota WillinkAuthor review – Goodreads 4.5 start of a series stars, I want more!!!Arc received in exchange for an honest review. Heart of Stone, is the 1st book in The Stone series & was a great start to a story I will certainly follow through to the end. It gives us a look into to lives alpha billionaire Alexander Stone, real estate mogul and Dominant. Along with college graduate and lowly retail assistant, Krystina Cole. Their lives that so very different, collide in a way neither ever imagined. For Alex, he has pretty much anything and everything he wants. As CEO of Stone Industries he is used to wanting something and taking it no matter the cost. A simple purchase of a small retail store named Wally’s. Upon his 1st visit he is mesmerized and taken by a beautiful woman, who happens to be on the floor after a pretty amusing, yet dangerous fall of an end cap that she had built and complained about. Now with no other option, she must meet the man with the bluest eyes... one Alexander Stone. Poor Krystina, is left so embarrassed by her fall, but the fact she is so tongue tied that she cannot put together one simple word towards this man. Embarrassed by his help that is offered, but spellbound by his appearance and mannerisms she finds herself pulled towards Mr mysterious. Krystina Cole has come from a challenging background. She has no interest in finding a man or having a relationship, but the mystery man in her store changes everything. With best friend Allyson whom knows most of her past, she pushes for Krystina to be careful with this man she knows nothing about. But for Krystina, Alexander poses a curiosity that she must follow. Not making it particularly easy on him, and giving him as much grief as he does for her, she pushes ahead, but what she sees and lives in Alexander's world.Alexander has never had to chase a woman, and he never imagined what he has to go through to get miss Cole to be with him. He is not a teddy bear and roses type of man, he likes his love life organised and by his rules. He never thought that one, Krystina Cole would turn his world upside down. Her smart mouth, quick wit and lack of submission, drives him crazy, yet pulled further together. As the pair begin a relationship filled with lies and secrets, it is only a matter of time before their histories become the bomb that will decimate what little amount of relationship they have. This doesn’t finish with a cliffhanger as such, but does end abruptly leaving many questions unanswered. I’m certainly looking forward to the next book in this series for the continuation of Alex and Krystina’s story of maybe love!EDIT - After reading early release chapters for Stepping Stone ( book 2) I'm nudging my review to 4.5 stars... Need that book now !!!!!!

Considering that this is a new author, I thought I'd take the time to write a proper review rather than just click on the star review button (don't worry, there are no spoilers).SETTING: This book takes place in New York City. At first I thought the beginning was a bit overly descriptive, but then understood the necessity as I continued reading. Without it, I'm not sure if I would have connected to the heroine as quickly. Overall the scene descriptions were well written, and I could easily paint a picture. CHARACTERS: Well thought out and developed. I was able to easily connect with Krystina Cole. Her struggles with life in general are not unlike most women in their mid-twenties, and I liked how she wasn't quick to bend over (pardon the pun) for Alex. That takes me to Alexander Stone - because no romance book would be complete without a totally-delish heart throb. He is wealthy (of course), a little cocky, and dominant. In the beginning I was reminded of Christian Grey and thought - oh no, here we go again. But readers - keep reading. I assure you, Alexander Stone is much more human. You'll actually like this guy, and his banter with Krystina is entertaining.STORY: Not wanting to give away too much, I will just say that that I enjoyed the progression. The book kept a good pace and it was an easy read. It had a titillating story line, making a red hot romance that is good after dark reading. I was able to understand the characters conflicts - my heart hurt for Krystina, and I was able to feel Alexander's wants and frustrations. After the first penthouse scene, I was hooked and ended up finishing the entire book by the end of the night. WRITING STYLE: The genre of contemporary romance is a good match - there are some erotic sex scenes, but it's not straight erotica. You won't find yourself skimming through the sex to get back to the plot. I found a few typos (not uncommon for a new independent author), but they were nothing big that interrupted my reading.OVERALL: 5 stars because I was still thinking about the characters after I finished reading. I am looking forward to the next book!

Loved the depth of the characters and their interactions - I liked how Krystina wasn't some complacent nitwit and she wasn't afraid to give a bit of snappy attitude towards Alexander. They are a sexy combo and made for one hot read!!!

I hate cliff hangers..... but thought this book was amazing. I started reading it and could not put it down. This is the first book that I have read from Dakota Willink and I am very impressed with her writing, the way she hooks the reader. I just hate cliff hangers. Alex and Krystina are two very strong characters that have a lot of baggage and ghost in the closet. This book goes into the BDSM relationship and when Krys starts to research it and make her own contract I had to laugh especially when she brought it to Alex. Alex is a good guy that helps so many different people as a reader I am glad I didn't see his eyes because I fell in love with him.Did I mention I hate cliff hangers lol this is the only thing that I hated about this book. Now we wait for book two and I sure hope the story is complete and there is not cliff hanger there as well. I could not find anything wrong with this book it's a must read. This review is written for Kylie's Fiction Addiction

Holy hell, did this book shock me! It was full of secrets pasts and hidden agendas, a bumpy and emotional ride loaded with intrigue and shockers, undiluted lust and mind bending sex. I was totally swept away by Alexander and Kristina. When I first started reading I thought it was reminiscent of other books that I read, but then BAM! It took me for a ride that I didn't predict. It ended up being hot, sexy, original, and fresh. Kristina is strong yet vulnerable and I liked that she didn't let Alexander trod all over her. I love me a good alpha male and I found one here. Alexander is assuming and arrogant, but his confusion over his feeling for Kristina make him human. I'm totally in love and can't wait to read the next book!

Soooo. Reading this book was rather difficult for me. I'm sure for someone not biased this was a great book. Alex was all alpha and hot and what not. Krystina was okay. Annoying at times, but otherwise okay. The reason this was such a difficult read for me was because i was biased as hell. To me this felt like a horrible mashup of FSoG and the Crossfire series. I personally did not enjoy it. Not just because i couldn't get the other two series out of my head, but also because it just didn't work for me. Everything was moving so fast. FSoG and Crossfire work great by themselves, but together this way it just didn't work. I didn't understand why Krystina told Alex what she did. I didn't understand Alex's sudden change of heart. There was no logic behind it and no emotional connection.

Great book - I recommend to Crossfire and Hacker series fans. Very engaging read.As a side note, I read reviews that mention 50 Shades, whether they were comparing or not comparing. The only thing this book had in common to 50 shades was the BDSM element, although in Heart of Stone it wasn’t nearly as explicit and went in an entirely different direction than 50 shades.
